Thursday's Thirst Quencher: Ginger Limeade

Now that summer is in full swing we've decided to introduce a new feature here on ATD - Thursday's Thirst Quencher's!  Our inaugural Thirst Quencher is this wonderfully refreshing Ginger Limeade.

Ingredients:
adapted from A Cozy Kitchen
2 tablespoons minced fresh ginger
3/4 cup sugar
4 - 4 1/2 cups water
3/4 cup fresh lime juice

In a small saucepan stir together 2 cups of water and sugar over medium heat.  Once the mixture comes to a simmer, add the ginger and stir.  Let mixture simmer for an additional 5 minutes.

Strain the ginger mixture, through a sieve, over a bowl or pitcher and allow to cool completly.
Once ginger mixture has cooled, add lime juice and remaining water to the pitcher and stir well (add 4 cups of water first then taste.  Adjust water level to taste.  I generally don't like beverages that are too concentrated and often add additional water.)

Pour ginger limeade over ice in a glass and garnish with additional lime slices and/or a sprig of mint.

How do you stay refreshed over the summer?

  1. Looks refreshing! Can't wait to try it. Do you happen to have a recipe for the guacamole in the photo as well?
